About Waterford County Museum
The Museum is located in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, Ireland and is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the locality. As our Museum is operational largely through voluntary effort we rely on the generosity of the public – both financially, and in terms of the donation of artifacts.

How it all began
Waterford County Museum was born from a vision by the Dungarvan I.C.A. in 1982, leading to the formation of a committee to establish a museum. The first location, R.A. Merry’s Wine Stores on Main Street, housed the museum alongside the library and tourist office. This historic building, originally a Market House dating back to the 17th century, played a vital role in Dungarvan’s history.
In 1999, the museum relocated to the Town Hall on St. Augustine Street, a former grain store and public building with its own fascinating past. Following renovations, the museum re-opened in 2009 with expanded displays.
