The HistoryGateway

The aim of the project is to develop a template to create thematic networks. The contrasting urban and rural library services of Cork City and Clare County have set up two local history content sites linked to a central portal to form a thematic network and to test and display the template in action.

Enormous searchable database of world history containing links, bibliographies, archives, journals etc.. Run by Mississippi State University. This is a must for the serious historian.

Univ. of Cincinnati
Hosted by the the Dept. of Humanities and Social Sciences. Articles on topics as diverse as American labour history and the history of the Ethiopian/Eritrean conflict. A great educational resource.

Medieval Scandinavia
Extremely large 500 page website on medieval Scandinavia. Features on Vikings, social history, national costume and royalty etc.. Its a very enjoyable site.

Spartan/Lakonian Page
Detailed and learned site dedicated to ancient Greek culture, with an extremely useful catagorised links page to sites relating to Greek culture.

Odin's Castle
Massive collection of history links in 20 categories from the dawn of man to the 20th century.

World of Royalty
Page recording the exploits of contemporary and historic royalty. It has a bias towards British royals, but seems to cover royals everywhere including Hawaii.

Villa Julilla
An excellent site, that contains much information about ancient Rome. The presentation of the information is very innovative.

Pictish Nation
This web-site is devoted to the story of the Picts, the nation who forced Hadrian to build his famous wall on the Scottish border. The site contains a nice mix of myth, legend and history.
