Meany, Dr Denis
The following is a profile of the life and times of Dr. Denis Meany, who died April 2, 1892. It was compiled from the diaries of Dr. Meany by Eddie Cantwell.

Musgrave, Sir Richard (1757-1818)
Author, Politician & Landowner, he was appointed High Sheriff of Co. Waterford in 1786.

MacConmara, Donnchadh Ruadh (d. circa 1814)
Teacher & Author he worked as a classical teacher, a hedge schoolmaster and a parish clerk.

Meagher, Thomas Francis (1823-1867)
He is credited with having introduced the Tricolour as the National flag of Ireland which flew for the first time from the former Wolfe Tone Meeting House on the Mall, Waterford in 1848.

O'Brien, Francis Xavier (1828-1905)
Involved with the Young Irelanders and was active in the Fenian Rising in 1867.

Organ, Nellie (1903-1908)
Little Nellie of Holy God

O'Regan, Tadgh (1927-1995)
His solo LP recordings include 'Dungarvan My Hometown' written by Mai O'Higgins.

Odell, Isabel (d.1948)
Isabel Mary Grant Ussher was the only daughter of Richard J. Ussher of Cappagh House. She specialised in pastels, sometimes painting in oils as well.

Ó Síocháin, Fr Micheál (1871-1945)
Ó Síocháin was involved in the foundation of Ring College in 1906. In 1938 he was appointed Count of the Papal Court, with the right to assist at the Papal Throne and other privileges.

Mongey, Laurence (1895-1972)
Mongey was very interested in the ecology and archaeology of Co. Waterford. In 1938 Mongey assisted T.G.E. Powell with the excavation of the megalithic tomb at Ballynamona, Old Parish.

Norris, Sean (b. 1928)
Norris was an eight times All-Ireland Senior Weightlifting Champion.

Moloney, Dr. Michael F. (1888-1934)
Moloney was Coroner for west Waterford in 1914.
