The Morning Star
A painting of the Morning Star, an Aberystwyth Schooner, 111 tons, which was wrecked off Boatstrand Pier on Thursday, 14th August 1915 on a voyage from Cardiff to Cork with a cargo of coal. It was captained by 34-year-old Augustine Christopher of Abbeyside, Dungarvan. The other crew members were Denis Flynn, also of Abbeyside, James Casey of Dungarvan, Michael Sullivan, Courtmacsherry Co.Cork and John Falvey Cork City. The only survivor of the tragedy was Denis Flynn who sadly died two months later from pneumonia.
